O CNPE (National Energy Policy Council) approved on Monday (26) the National Policy for Energy transition. The expectation is that this measure will receive R$2 trillion in investments in renewable energy in ten years.

O The objective of the policy is to create a plan to stimulate the green economy, in addition to maintaining debate with society and sectors of the economy on the topic.

A new policy creates links with the National Climate Change Policy and the Ecological Transformation Plan. The resolution creates two fronts, FONTE (National Energy Transition Forum) and PLANT (National Energy Transition Plan).

O FONTE will be a participatory forum, It will bring together representatives of civil society, the productive sector and federal entities. The group will present recommendations to the CNPE.

Already PLANT will be an action plan within the scope of energy policy with interrelationship with other government policies such as the PAC, the Climate Plan, the New Industry Brazil and the Pact for Ecological Transformation.

The latter will be developed along two axes: sectoral approach, which will cover industrial, transport, electrical, mineral and oil and gas sectors; and the transversal approach, which will focus on legal and regulatory frameworks, combating energy poverty and an attractive environment for investments.

For this, the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) will have the of EPE (Energy Research Company), IEA (International Energy Agency), BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) and FGV (Fundação Getúlio Vargas).

“It’s wind, solar, hydro, biomass, biodiesel, ethanol, green diesel, carbon capture and storage, sustainable aviation fuel, green hydrogen”, commented minister Alexandre Silveira, who was present at the launch, which also included the participation of the president of the republic.

“It is the rebirth of Brazilian industry on a sustainable basis. It is adding value to the Brazilian product produced with clean and renewable energy, it is an opportunity to boost the use of our local content”, concluded the minister.
