Four of the six solar plants hired by the retailer from Rio Grande do Sul Want-want next to GreenYellow, on 2021, were connected, in recent months, to the respective dealership network, in the south of the country.
With this, the agreement, which isestablishes 7,80 MWp of installed capacity, already has 5,63 MWp delivered to be used in the supply of 60% of customer store operations.
The connected solar farms are located in the cities of Venâncio Alves (two units) and Santa Cruz do Sul, both in Rio Grande do Sul, and in Alto Paraná, in the territory of Paraná.
To date, more than 9.620 solar s have been installed in completed projects. The total generation of 10 GWh per year, which is already available to Quero-Quero, could avoid the emission of 428 tons of CO2 into the environment over a period of one year.
According to Peter Furukawa, CEO of Lojas Quero-Quero, the fact of basing the operations of establishments on the consumption of photovoltaic energy is a way for the company to integrate the important energy transition movement that Brazil is currently promoting, and which has been with the country quickly rising in the ranking of the fastest growing in this segment in the world.
“It is very positive for our company to choose to use solar energy for several reasons, such as alignment with the ESG concept (Environmental, Social and Governance, in the free translation into Portuguese), the use of a resource that is abundant in the Brazil and also through cost reduction”, stated Furukawa.
Marcelo Xavier, CEO of GreenYellow, said that the two other plants that are part of the contract and are in the implementation process should be connected in the second half of this year and are located in Guaíba (RS) and Mondaí (SC).
“It is an honor for GreenYellow to be the partner of organizations like Quero-Quero, with the responsibility of providing clean energy to retail, through distributed generation projects. This is because it is a sector that has a lot of potential for growth, since, in Brazil, we currently have around 4,8 million retail stores”, added Xavier.
