the chinese multinational Huawei held this Monday (14), in São Paulo (SP), an event to launch new products, such as smartwatches and equipment for the solar energy sector.
In the energy sector, the company presented a new line of batteries for storage power supply: the LUNA 2000-7/14/21-S1, and the investor SUN 2000-7,5/10K-LC0, with intelligent programming for homes and that uses artificial intelligence to analyze pre-failure patterns against adverse scenarios.
The company also showed the public an ultra-fast charger for electric vehicles and the Smart Gard+ EMMA energy management assistant, which enables off-grid power backup and smart home energy scheduling.
Drop in battery prices puts storage on Brazilians’ radar
In an exclusive interview with the editorial staff of Canal Solar, Rômulo Horta, business development director at Huawei Digital Power, gave more details about the new products – which should reach the Brazilian market between the end of this year and the beginning of 2025. Check out the main excerpts from the interview below.
Huawei has launched a series of products at this event for the solar energy sector, such as a new line of storage, an inverter for residential systems and also an ultra-fast residential vehicle charger. Could you first tell us a little about this new family of batteries?
Of course! In of storage, we are introducing a new family of batteries, called Luna, with modules of 7 kWh each.
It is possible to combine up to three photovoltaic modules, reaching a total capacity of 21 kWh, which meets most residential needs in Brazil.
Our system also offers safety and efficiency, with artificial intelligence to manage the performance of the battery cells.
This is important because in traditional systems, if one cell degrades, the entire system loses performance. In our case, it is possible to maintain maximum performance of healthy cells, without impacting overall performance.
Can you give an example of this application in everyday life?
Absolutely! The battery system can be used in a hybrid configuration.
During the day, the solar energy generated by the inverter is used directly, while at night or in times of no sunlight, the battery comes into action.
Furthermore, the system is advantageous in places where it is not worthwhile injecting energy into the utility grid.
With rates being constantly updated, it makes more and more sense to store and consume energy within your own home, minimizing dependence on the grid and avoiding loss of credits.
Do we already have an estimated availability date for this product to the public?
Yes, some of our partners are already preparing to bring the product to Brazil. The expectation is that it will be available in the portfolio early next year.
Any specific distributors already involved?
Yes, all of our main distributors are with us in this initiative, such as Bell Energy and Sou Energy, with guaranteed national coverage.
And about the residential hybrid inverter, what can you highlight?
Our inverters for residential systems are already prepared to operate both with direct generation for consumption and for battery storage, including models already installed at customers' premises. They should be available to the public by the end of November.
What makes this new inverter different from the market?
The Brazilian market is constantly being updated and a recent change in regulations makes it easier to approve projects with up to 7,5 kWh through a process called fast track, which allows almost automatic approval by the concessionaire.
Our inverter was developed to fit exactly this capacity, meeting the new market demand.
So, is that issue of flow inversion in states like Minas Gerais, for example, completely solved with this technology?
Exactly. All our inverters come with an arc flash protection system, which is now mandatory in Brazil. This ensures that our products are ready to comply with the new regulations.
Our products already include the Rapid Shutdown function, and the inverter also has a solution called an optimizer, which automatically shuts down the modules when necessary in a matter of half a thousandth of a second.
Another new feature presented was Smart Gard + EMMA. Could you explain a little more about this technology?
Let's go! This is a smart energy meter that allows the customer to monitor their home's consumption, as well as the excess energy generated by photovoltaic modules.
This product can also be integrated with other smart sockets in the home, enabling detailed monitoring of consumption in real time.
What about the new vehicle charger?
In addition to the battery and inverter, we are bringing our vehicle charger. We already have the traditional model for homes, and we will soon launch a super charger for electric charging stations.
With it, each second of charging provides approximately one kilometer of autonomy. So, for example, while you drink a coffee, you can get 400 km of autonomy.
For example: would a vehicle with 280 km of autonomy take 280 seconds to charge from 0 to 100%?
Exactly. In less than 10 minutes, you would have a full charge, comparable to the time it takes to fill up a combustion car at a traditional gas station. We believe that by the end of this year or early next year it will be available on the market.
And what about the prices of all this equipment that has been launched? Is there anything you can say yet?
I can't yet tell you the exact price, but I can guarantee that it will be very competitive compared to what the market currently offers.

very good, I would like to receive news
With the current scenario where requests for MMGD connection with minimum powers are being denied due to flow inversion, this battery storage solution meets one of the options indicated in article 73 of REN 1000. ANEEL. Batteries with larger capacities will be the way forward for the exponentially expanding MMGD market.
Why is no company releasing a home kit that fulfills all the roles at once and uses car/truck batteries?
your vehicle charger receives 6 wires (3 pairs of 220v) (660v coming from your centralizer and another 660v coming from the centralizer of your neighbor in the building's parking space), so your car could charge super fast with 1.320 volts and already show in your app and in your neighbor's app how much energy you owe him, and your neighbor will also have batteries connected to his Pack, his kit may or may not have energy coming from the street, batteries and solar connected to his device, maybe your neighbor puts a kit with only a battery and solar , without connecting energy coming from the street to his centralizer device, or connects only the solar and energy from the street, without batteries, this is a personal choice for each one, but the fact is that both you and your neighbor could each use your charger and use (or not) the full energy of 1320v with energy coming from two centralizer kits at the same time and thus have super speed charging even if your own kit only has 660v... maybe they could create kits so they can get energy coming from 8 neighbors at the same time and so the car charger in people's homes can be as powerful as the super fast charger in the mall, and at the same time without any of the wires ing too much energy, as there would be several wires (coming from several places), would that be too many wires?
