O growth in installed power of distributed minigeneration was significant in 2023, recording a increase of 36%, according to data from the most recent Greener strategic report on the distributed generation market, released last Tuesday (19/3).

This increase led to the installed power of mini GD a jump from 2.943 GW to 4.505 GW, with special emphasis on the contribution of the commercial sector.

Over the past year, the mini DG capacity added was 1,56 GW, suring the 2022 mark, which had been 1,14 GW.

Distributed generation is divided into two segments: microgeneration and minigeneration. While microgeneration refers to plants with power less than or equal to 75 kW, minigeneration comprises projects with power between 75 kW and 3 MW.

According to Greener's analysis, the minigeneration currently represents 20% of the total distributed generation market in Brazil.

The states of Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso and São Paulo stand out, accumulating 43% of the total installed power of distributed minigeneration.

Until December last year, the country had a total of 26,9 GW of DG capacity, of which 8 GW was connected in 2023 alone.
