During an unprecedented inspection action, the INMETRO (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology) submitted samples of photovoltaic s from different brands to laboratory tests and identified irregularities in at least one product.

So far, the rejected model was the TSun 560 W, collected in Mato Grosso, which presented significantly lower power than that declared by the product manufacturer on the label.

In addition to this case, two other brands are also being analyzed in laboratories accredited by INMETRO. The agency has not yet revealed which ones they are.

The operation covered the states of Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Goiás, with the aim of evaluating the quality and compliance of products available on the market.

According to the Federal Government website, the inspection was motivated by the growing demand for photovoltaic equipment and by complaints ed with the INMETRO ombudsman.

According to the president of INMETRO, engineer Márcio André Brito, the initiative seeks to ensure that products sold in the country meet technical and regulatory standards, reinforcing confidence in the adoption of solar energy.

“Since 2023, INMETRO has been mapping the trade of these plates in the country, which resulted in a targeted inspection to demonstrate whether these plates sold in Brazil have the powers defined by the manufacturer and importer,” informed the president.

What does Tsun Power say?

In a statement, Tsun Power pointed out that “it was not previously informed about the INMETRO notification, which caused the company to feel strange. We would like to emphasize that we have always acted with total commitment to serving the market, offering complete after-sales and ensuring the quality of our photovoltaic modules. We reinforce our commitment to guaranteeing reliable and high-performance products, aligned with the expectations and needs of our customers”, the manufacturer emphasized.

The company also pointed out that it “invested more than 50 million in state-of-the-art machinery last year to produce the best possible quality, in addition to being an investor in solar parks. In addition, it has customer service and after-sales services in Brazil.”

Canal of Complaints

Consumers who identify irregularities in photovoltaic s can report the cases to the INMETRO Ombudsman by calling 0800 285 1818 (exclusively for landlines), from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 16:30 pm, or through the agency's official website, available at link.

  2. The solar generation market, although it has been showing quite promising growth, is still in the consolidation phase and the monitoring by Inmetro as the accrediting body needs to be rigorous. Note that more than 40% of Brazilian industries have not yet seen the obvious fact that photovoltaic generation is a very good alternative to reduce their energy demand and consumption costs, especially electricity. It is no surprise that some products are of poor quality. It is public knowledge that all sectors of human activity, unfortunately, are subject to this type of event.

  3. WELL... the Modules enter Brazil supervised and sealed by INMETRO, everything is inspected, and there will be no customer without technical knowledge who managed to identify compromised quality, and on top of products, already certified by them, so the one who is wrong is Inmetro, which "burned the film" in the certification of the solar module or whatever it may be, which can only be marketed, assembled and put into operation, After Inmetro, Analyzes, Technically Tests, Attests and Certifies, Including With a Seal on the Back, in the DataSheet.
