The Intersolar Summit Brasil Nordeste concluded its fifth edition in Fortaleza, breaking a record number of visitors: more than 5.600 people visited the event's 90 stands. Organized by Aranda Eventos & Congressos, in collaboration with Solar Promotion International GmbH from , the Summit brings to light strategic discussions for the future of the sector.

“We had a record attendance at our fifth edition, which demonstrates the consolidation of the event and the credibility gained with the main players in renewable energy and energy transition,” said Florian Wessendorf, CEO of Solar Promotion International GmbH.

“In addition, the congress had high-level discussions, bringing together important representatives from the sector, and the mini-courses were very well attended, training professionals in some of the main market trends,” he highlighted.

The “Green Hydrogen: the new energy frontier of the Northeast” opened the Summit discussions. Jurandir Picanço, Energy Consultant for the Federation of Industries of the State of Ceará, stated that projections made about the source a few years ago have been revised and are now lower. There are barriers such as production costs, technology and structure.

Camila Ramos, CEO and Founder of CELA, reported that the market still faces challenges for companies to make the final investment decision, such as the need to have buyers for projects to be financeable. She also highlighted Ceará's efforts and incentives to attract investments.

In turn, Gustavo Silva, Operations Director at Qair Brasil, presented the investor's view. The executive highlighted obstacles to the market's potential, such as supply bottlenecks, geopolitical barriers and political uncertainties in Brazil.

Closing the , Brígida Miola, Executive Secretary of Industry - SDE, presented the initiatives of the Ceará Green Hydrogen Hub, in order to make production viable in the State, such as port infrastructure, transmission lines and reused water.

energy storage

The second discussion addressed the “Panorama of electrical energy storage in the Northeast”. The was moderated by Markus Vlasits, president of ABSAE (Brazilian Energy Storage Association), who defended a policy for the segment in the country.

Regarding the potentialization of solar and wind energy, the storage is presented as a viable solution in order to make better use of generation capacity. In his approach, Jonas Becker Paiva, director of Colibri Capital, outlined an overview of the sector.

He cited a recent Bloomberg survey, which showed a 40% drop in the cost of storage systems globally, with a downward trend also in the coming years, with estimates of a 34% reduction by 2030.

Maurício Gonçalves, CEO of 3E Soluções, emphasized isolated systems as viable solutions in locations with more bottlenecks in access to electricity. Adalberto Moreira, Commercial Manager of Baterias Moura, highlighted the business environment in storage. He argued that the segment should not be seen as a competitor to traditional energy sources, but rather as a strategic ally.

Brazilian electricity sector

The “Perspectives of the electrical system and transmission challenges for large loads” were discussed in the third of the day. Joaquim Rolim, Sustainable Development Manager at FIEC, highlighted the changes in the Brazilian electrical sector in recent years, with the entry of renewables and implications for issues such as load management.

In his contribution, Marcos Junior Soares de Lima, Senior Network Planning Specialist at Enel, addressed the challenges imposed by the entry of new large-load connections in the work planning of distributors. Eduardo Rego, O&M Director at Voltalia Energia do Brasil, highlighted the daily life of generation companies in the face of the current scenario in the country.

Electromobility

The last of the event addressed “Electromobility: standardization and technology”. Cesare Quinteiro, CEO of move, moderated the discussion, which covered standards, technology, market and the vision of the charging point operator (O's).

Quiteiro also highlighted the exponential growth of electromobility in Brazil – a trend that is expected to continue in the coming years. Daniel Carvalho, CEO of DCC Energy, showed the growth of the market in recent years, with emphasis on the Brazilian Northeast, which grew 9,4 times between 2022 and 2024 – opening up opportunities in sectors such as charging infrastructure.

Rafael Souza, director of Eletricarr, related the growth in vehicle sales and charging points. He emphasized that the expansion of charging points encourages consumers to purchase vehicles – something that happens not only in capital cities, but also in medium-sized cities. The executive highlighted the opportunity for solar generation, which can benefit from this increase by supplying energy to charging points.

Grid Zero and mini-courses

The event also featured a lecture open to the public, “Grid Zero and Protection Systems,” given by Vinícius Ayrão, an electrical engineer at Sinergia Consultoria. In addition to the discussions, the mini-courses had a captive audience.

The training sessions covered: “MicroPV maintenance business models”, with Vinicius Ayrão; “Smart Systems for Energy Transition”, taught by Camila Gehrke and Flávio da Silva; and “Demand Management for Condominiums”, led by Rafael Cunha and João Cunha.
