On March 9, ISA Energia Brasil completed the energization of the Minuano Project, which represents a milestone in strengthening the electrical infrastructure of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. With R$682 million in investments (Capex ANEEL), the project increases the security and capacity of supplying electricity to the region, fostering the growth of the industrial sector in Serra Gaúcha.
The project involved the construction of 115 kilometers of transmission lines, of which 38 kilometers are in a double circuit, ing through the municipalities of Bento Gonçalves, Caxias do Sul, Farroupilha, Flores da Cunha, Nova Roma do Sul, Pinto Bandeira and Veranópolis.
It also included the expansion and adaptation of 9 substations in the region, in addition to the construction of a new substation with 2.700 MVA of power, considered the largest in of power in the state, with 195 thousand m² of installed area and 77 thousand m² of energized area.
“The energization of the Minuano Project is a milestone in the modernization of the electrical infrastructure of Rio Grande do Sul, benefiting more than 1 million inhabitants in the state. This investment strengthens the energy security of Serra Gaúcha, ensuring greater reliability in supply, especially in climate events, in addition to boosting economic development and enabling the expansion of the industrial sector in the region,” said Dayron Urrego, executive director of projects at ISA Energia Brasil.
Project stages
The company consolidates the complete energization of the project, with the maintenance of the full receipt of the Annual Permitted Revenue (RAP) of R$ 50,2 million (2024/2025 cycle), as authorized in the Definitive Release Term (TLD) with the National Electric System Operator, in December 2024, when the second phase of the commercial operation of the project is completed.
The last phase was completed on March 9, with the energization of the sectioning of the 230 kV Caxias do Sul 2 – Farroupilha and Caxias do Sul 5 – Farroupilha transmission lines. The second phase, delivered on December 13, included the 230 kV Caxias Norte – Vinhedos and Caxias Norte – Monte Claro transmission lines, in addition to the sectioning of the 525 kV Campos Novos – Caxias transmission line.
The first stage, completed on November 11, involved the delivery of the Caxias Norte Substation, the 230 kV Caxias Norte – Caxias 6 transmission line and the sectioning of the 525 kV Itá – Caxias transmission line.
