La Niña will reduce solar generation in the Southeast and Northeast regions

Unstable weather caused by the phenomenon will reduce solar radiation in both regions over the next 15 days

The persistence of rain and heavy cloud cover in the Southeast and Northeast regions of Brazil will negatively impact solar power generation in both locations over the next 15 days. The analysis is from Weather, a company specializing in meteorology.

“The action of the phenomenon La niña has influenced above-average rainfall in these areas. Therefore, the increase in cloud cover reduces the incidence of solar radiation on the surface and, consequently, the potential for generating solar energy in these areas”, added the company.

Climatempo also highlighted that in the state of Piauí, despite the occurrence of sunny and hot days that favor solar generation, the forecast for the coming weeks is a gradual increase in rainfall and a period with the presence of cloudiness.

In the coming days, there is a risk of heavy rain showers, especially in the afternoon. On the other hand, in Bahia, the forecast is for more sunny days with low cloud cover, which favors the potential for solar energy generation in this region.

In the Southeast region, the persistence of humidity corridors has left the weather very cloudy and, consequently, with a lower incidence of solar radiation on the surface and temperatures below the historical average.

The forecast is that these rains will remain over this region over the next few weeks. This factor disadvantages the potential for solar generation. Furthermore, large amounts of rain can harm the maintenance and operation of equipment.
