O Light for All Program, which aims to universalization of access to electrical energy for Brazilians living in remote areas of the country, ended the year with more than 61 thousand families served and investments of around R$1,25 billion, according to information from MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy).
According to the entity's bulletin, released this Tuesday (26), the North of the country was the one that received the most new calls: 45 thousand, especially in rural locations and the Legal Amazon. In this region alone, around R$1 billion was invested.
It is worth ing that, in isolated places, the photovoltaic generation is an ally of the program, since in these regions there is no feasibility for installations with network extension.
No Northeast, a total of 19 thousand consumer units benefited by Luz Para Todos. Most of the installations were through network extension, with Bahia being the most benefited state, with 7,8 thousand consumer units served.
In Maranhão, there were more than 3 thousand consumer units served in rural areas and around 980 located in the Maranhão area corresponding to the Legal Amazon.
A Central-West region also benefited from new connections, where the number of consumer units reached almost 1,4, with service in Goiás (1.232) and Mato Grosso (156).
For 2024, the goal of the Light for All Program is to serve 75 thousand consumer units with the public electricity distribution service. The planned investments are in the order of R$2,5 billion, according to the MME.
