LONGi sets new record with cells with 25,09% efficiency

The manufacturer intends to contribute to carbon neutralization in China

The manufacturer of photovoltaic equipment LONG Solar LONGi Solar Technology Co., Ltd. kicked off May by setting a new record in the global solar market. The TOPCon N-type solar cell achieved a conversion efficiency of 25,09%. “Our goal is to promote the continuous upgrade of the entire photovoltaic industry with higher efficiency and more sustainability,” said Li Hua, vice president and head of solar cell R&D at LONGi.

TOPCon is a monocrystalline, N-type, bifacial cell that has a ive oxide tunnel in and is the first to reach the 25% mark. The previous record, set in 2019, was 24,06% efficiency set by the front of a mono, p-type PERC cell. The achievement was confirmed by German Solar Energy Research Institute in Hamelin. Furthermore, the manufacturer broke all records for shipments in 2020, reaching 24,53 GW.

“Improving cellular conversion rate is the main focus for the development of photovoltaic technology. LONGi will continue to focus on technology development and industrialization, and thus take the lead in new technologies and contribute innovation power to realizing China's “two-carbon” goals,” Li Hua added.

  1. Changing Ren 482 will really be a huge blow to the generation of renewable solar energy, if there is common sense there could be a middle ground, a meter of distribution network has never been built to serve only solar energy, all this electrical heritage belongs to the union. paid, the concessionaires want to receive a little more in their fat salaries and politicians should not give in to this lobbyism that is implemented in congress, this bill that they want to charge can very easily be reversed with carbon credits that solar energy generates and avoids the operation of thermal generators pollutants that increase energy bills throughout Brazil.

  2. The voluptuousness of innovations in the photovoltaic segment is excellent. There is still a long way to go in of technological efficiency of solar modules or s. Therefore, this is yet another piece of good news from Longi. Now, with the Biden government's intention to invest billions of dollars in renewable energy, I believe that the sector will have a great run, for the good, to increasingly present other types of innovations in this segment that has enormous potential to combat environmental impacts. For now, China is the major player and largely dominates photovoltaic generation. In our region, there is a large lobby of concessionaires and distributors in the National Congress to make changes to resolution 482, which deals with renewable energy, which could hinder its dissemination in Brazil. Note that photovoltaic energy represents only 1% of our installed capacity, so these are threats to its expansion that go against what happens in most countries that see it as a notable alternative for generating electricity. We are a privileged nation in of renewable energy sources and our daily average of kWh/m² exceeds the maximum of all countries in the European common market. So why go against the current?
