Following the growth of investments in solar sources in the country, Magazine Luiza signed an agreement with GreenYellow for the supply and monitoring of photovoltaic energy for 214 stores in the chain. The contract, which works within the rental model, provides for the delivery of 9.307,1 MWh per year.
The project's total investment is R$18 million and involves energy generated at the photovoltaic plants of Coroados and Riolândia, in the state of São Paulo, and Florestópolis, in Paraná, which together have 4.861 KWp of installed power.
“In addition to contracting solar energy, we will offer operation and maintenance services for the plants. This is a very important pillar in this partnership, as we have a specialized team dedicated to energy monitoring, responsible for collecting important indicators and scheduling plant maintenance actions”, highlighted Pierre-Yves Mourgue, CEO of GreenYellow.
GreenYellow currently operates in eight countries and has more than 2 projects implemented around the world. In Brazil, the company has been operating since 2013 and has more than a thousand projects in the country and more than 30 solar plants under construction or operation. By December 2019, it totaled 680 GWh in Brazilian territory, enough to supply more than 360 homes in one year.
Expansion of the solar source in Brazil
Magazine Luiza's investment was made in the same week as the Bahian department store chain Le Biscuit announced the installation of a photovoltaic system in its CD (distribution center) in Salvador (BA), providing savings of R$ 100 thousand per month.
According to the company, in total, the CD has an area of almost 10 thousand meters², with a capacity of more than 1 MW of power. The installation was carried out by Enersol Brasil and can be considered one of the largest distributed generation photovoltaic installations in the country, according to Matthias Ogonovszky, managing partner of the company.
