the state of Minas Gerais sured the mark 8 GW of operational capacity in solar energy, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

Os numbers take into all the photovoltaic power installed by Minas Gerais municipalities through power plants centralized generation (4,36 GW) e of the systems distributed generation (3,71 GW).

Currently, around a fifth of all solar energy produced in Brazil (just over 41 GW) is concentrated in Minas Gerais.

Os The numbers presented far exceed the indicators of the second and third best-placed Brazilian states in the ranking of ANEEL, in this case: São Paulo and Bahia, respectively.

Os São Paulo municipalities today they have 4,82 GW of operational capacity through solar sources: there are 3,93 GW in distributed generation (the largest volume of power in the country in the segment), but only 0,89 GW in centralized generation (the seventh state with the best performance in this modality).

Already the Bahian cities somam 3,32 GW in solar energy, with 1,27 GW in distributed generation (the seventh best state brand in the country) and another 2,05 GW in centralized generation (the second best index, behind only Minas Gerais).

Energy scenario

Only in 2024, were 12 new centralized solar generation modules connected to the mining grid of distribution, in the municipalities of Betim, Jaíba and Paracatu, adding an increase of 473 MW in operational power to the State.

Of the 834 projects that are under construction or have not yet started construction in Minas Gerais and which will be added to the state energy matrix, 810 are solar powered.

At the same time, little more than 166,4 MW of solar distributed generation have already come into operation this year in Minas Gerais.

The indicator corresponds to 13,1% of the total installed power at national level, second only to São Paulo, which currently holds 13,8% of the total.

Currently, all 853 municipalities in Minas Gerais have at least one photovoltaic solar energy generation unit installed in their respective locations.
