Minister signs new Ordinances granting Auction A-6

The estimate is that the group of plants employs 90 thousand workers

The new Ordinances granting the 6 A-2019 Auction were signed by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, last Thursday (23). In total, 106 projects were contracted in the two electricity generation auctions (A-4 and A-6) held last year, totaling 3.380 MW of power with supply starting from 2023 and 2025.

Of the 106 contracted plants, 103 operate from renewable sources, 17 of which are exclusively solar energy, totaling 733,7 MW of power.

Expansion of photovoltaic energy

According to PDE 2029 (Ten-Year Energy Expansion Plan 2029), the solar source must increase from the current 2% to 8% in ten years in the Brazilian electrical matrix. Currently, there are 3.898 photovoltaic plants in operation in the country.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the publication of resolutions that reduced import taxes on some solar energy equipment, published in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union) on Monday (20), may contribute to increased use of the source in Brazil and benefit entrepreneurs who contracted photovoltaic plants in the A-4 and A-6 auctions of 2019.

Job and income generation

Furthermore, the Federal Government states that the construction of new plants should also boost the national economy by creating jobs and purchasing materials for construction work. The estimate is that this group of plants will employ 90 thousand workers and require investments of more than R$14 billion.
