O MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), in partnership with EPE (Energy research company), released the initial version of STEPS (Isolated Systems Monitoring Portal), with the target de centralize the dissemination of planning data of isolated systems and unify information between the bodies.
Currently, the Brazil count with near 200 locations that have electrical systems that are not connected to the without (National Interconnected System), with the majority is concentrated in North.
O portal indicates that around 3 million Brazilians depend on generation in Isolated Systems, and gathers information regarding the number of consumer units served. There are more than 550 thousand homes and businesses, most of them in Amazonas, expected to consume 3,63 MWh by the end of this year.
Other information present on the platform is: consumption profile of each Isolated System per Planning Cycle, total load and loss data.
Thiago Barral, national secretary of Energy Transition and Planning at MME, states that the launch of the platform guarantees greater transparency for society and the sector regarding data from isolated systems:
“The data available on the platform covers market, geographic and economic characteristics of all isolated systems. With this, we have much more solidity for the planning and implementation of the Amazon Energy Program, bringing cost reduction, better energy quality and sustainability”, he pointed out.
The final version of PASI is scheduled for July this year and will include two other operational modules with data on consumption and diesel oil costs, among other information.
The portal will allow the start of execution of the LPI (Free Proposal of Interest) mechanism, which is also part of the Amazon Energy Program and will receive proposals from entrepreneurs interested in expansion, replacement of the existing electricity supply or complementarity with lower supply solutions. global cost, including storage systems or other measures that make it possible to reduce the cost of the CCC (Fuel Consumption Bill), which is paid by all Brazilians.
