Semagro (Secretariat of Environment, Economic Development, Production and Family Agriculture) has simplified the environmental licensing of small distributed solar energy generation projects in Mato Grosso do Sul. The Resolution should encourage the installation of more plants, enabling the expansion of use of clean energy in the State.
According to Semagro, for the installation and operation of solar plants that generate distributed energy and that occupy up to 15 hectares or produce up to 5 MW of energy, only an “Activity Report” will be required, a simplified procedure for obtaining licensing environmental. The measure also covers wind farms of the same size or production.
“We are improving the environmental licensing process and allowing for an improvement in the management of information about solar energy generation in the State. These are projects that contribute to increasing the use of clean energy. As they are considered low risk, they fall under the Economic Freedom Law and we have simplified obtaining the license”, commented the secretary of Semagro, Jaime Verruck.
