A neoenergy entered into a strategic partnership with Rock in Rio and The Town, from the Rock World group, during an event held at last Monday (3), at the Museum of Tomorrow, located in Rio de Janeiro.
The initiative's main objective is develop environmental awareness actions, with the aim of promoting solutions for decarbonization of the events of music industry.
During the ceremony, representatives of business, artistic and government sectors had the opportunity to discuss sustainable actions capable of minimizing carbon emissions.
“For a fair and inclusive energy transition, we need to expand energy generation from clean sources, as well as influencing young people about the production and consumption of other products”, said Eduardo Capelastegui, CEO of Neoenergia.
The launch of the partnership was attended by Solange Ribeiro, vice-president of Regulation, Institutional and Sustainability and Vice President of the UN (United Nations Global Compact), in addition to the CEO of Neoenergia.
Also present were the CEO of Rock World, Luis Justo; Rock World's Chief Brand Reputation Officer, Roberta Medina; the president of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) and advisor to Neoenergia, Marina Grossi; and the National Secretary for Climate Change, Ana Toni.
Environmental awareness at music festivals
Neoenergia is committed to investing in the search for energy solutions for the future of events, having started in 2024, with the supply of clean energy for Rock in Rio edition, known for its reference in sustainability.
Furthermore, in September, the municipality of São Paulo (SP) will receive the first edition of The Town, from the same creators of Rock in Rio. festival will take place at the Interlagos Racetrack, with an estimated audience of 500 thousand people, while the classic Rock in Rio is estimated to receive 700 thousand.
According to Capelastegui, Neoenergia established a target of reducing CO2 intensity to 20 g/kWh by 2030 and achieve the carbon neutrality by 2050.
“By making a commitment to an international reference partner such as Rock in Rio, Neoenergia reinforces the brand's earned credibility and advances its strategy of consolidating itself as one of the main leaders in sustainable energy solutions in the country”, highlighted Lorenzo Perales, director of Marketing at Neoenergia.
Educational sustainability in practice
Neoenergia will be an official er of the event, with sustainable action planning. For each person present, the company will exchange a conventional lamp for an LED in schools, hospitals, non-profit institutions and low-income communities in the concession areas where the company operates, in energy distribution in Brazil.
The initiative integrates the Energy Efficiency Program, regulated by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), with the proposal to use changing light bulbs as a tool for awareness and education.
The lamps will be replaced with models that save up to 40% compared to a compact fluorescent lamp (15W), in order to avoid energy waste and, consequently, contribute to sustainability through reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Still as a way of minimize the impacts caused by CO2 emissions, Neoenergia will provide solar-powered lighting posts for The Town and electric carts that will be used by the organization of festivals in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
“In 2006, we began to offset Rock in Rio's carbon footprint. Of the 22 editions held since it was created, 18 had their emissions neutralized. We have already compensated 420 thousand tons”, pointed out Roberta Medina, CBRO at Rock World.
“The time has come when we need to take a bigger step and look for innovative solutions that serve not only our festivals, but the industry as a whole and Neoenergia is the partner we chose to us in this mission”, he concluded.
