Neoenergia inaugurated on Thursday (6) the new energy storage system (BESS) at the Pernambuco Cancer Hospital. The ceremony was attended by the director of ANEEL, Agnes da Costa, and regulatory specialist Carlos Eduardo Firmeza, from the Secretariat of Innovation and Energy Transition of ANEEL.
With a total investment of R$ 3,5 million, the BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) has a capacity of 1.200 kWh and was made possible through resources from the PEE (Energy Efficiency Program) regulated by ANEEL.
The storage system will meet an average of 80% of the health unit's energy demand during peak hours, significantly contributing to reducing energy costs during the peak tariff period, from 17:30 pm to 20:30 pm.
With the implementation of this project, the hospital institution will be able to save more than R$600 thousand per year in electricity expenses. “We are excited to see projects like this come to fruition, bringing not only financial savings, but also an example of sustainability and energy efficiency to such important institutions as the Pernambuco Cancer Hospital,” said the director of the ANEEL.
