This Saturday (08), Brazil celebrates Northeastern Day – a date that aims to honor the culture of each of the nine states of the Northeast: Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do North and Sergipe.
The celebration is also a way to reinforce the fight against xenophobia and people who try to diminish the people of the region because of their accents and socioeconomic conditions, based on misinformation and prejudice.
In addition to its rich culture, the Northeast is also notable for being a fundamental territory for the development of solar energy in Brazil, especially because of its long periods of sunshine.
Currently, the location is the region with the largest operational capacity in the country, with 6,98 GW, adding the GD (distributed generation) and GC (centralized generation), according to updated data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), updated late Friday afternoon (07).
Operational capacity by Brazilian region, according to ANEEL:
-
Northeast: 7,19 GW
-
Southeast: 6,88 GW
-
South: 2,94 GW
-
Midwest: 2,14 GW
-
North: 0,93 GW
Among the large plants, the Northeast is responsible for two thirds of the operational power generated in Brazil: 4,33 GW of the existing 6,52 GW. In total, there are 177 large photovoltaic projects in operation.
The region is also awaiting the implementation of another 768 plants, which are in the construction phase or awaiting authorization to begin work. The forecast is that the new plants, when ready, will add more than 31,9 GW to the SIN (National Interconnected System).
Furthermore, the data from ANEEL They also show that three of the four states with the largest volume of operational power in GC in Brazil are in the Northeast: Bahia (1,35 GW); Piauí (1,24 GW) and Ceará (7 GW). Minas Gerais is the only “intruder” on the list, leading the generation of the segment in the country, with 1,49 GW.
Regarding distributed micro and minigeneration projects, the Northeast s for 2,83 GW of installed power, behind only the Southeast (4,79 GW) and South (2,92 GW) regions, and remaining ahead of the Center -West (2,12 GW) and North (0,96 GW).
The northeastern states that currently have the most installed power in DG are: Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco, with 0,57 GW; 0,46 GW and 0,43 GW, respectively. Currently, the region also has just over 265 thousand photovoltaic systems connected to the distribution network.
