O ONS (National Electric System Operator) prepared a operational plan specific to municipal election days in 2024, with the aim of dealing with possible interruptions in the supply of electricity during voting days (first and second rounds).
The goal is ensure operational security and efficient communication between all institutions involved, such as ONS, ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), distributors, transmitters and the TSE and TREs (electoral courts).
According to the ONS, the initiative complies with Resolution No. 001/2005 of the CMSE (Electric Sector Monitoring Committee), which determines that the ONS must propose special security measures in order to guarantee the supply of electricity in highly relevant events.
During the 2024 Elections, the Operator will work under a special operation regime, implementing complementary actions to ensure the operation of the SIN (National Interconnected System).
These measures aim to block maintenance that could cause power outages and operate the system with lower flow to increase safety.
In the first round of elections, the blockade begins at midnight on Saturday (0) and continues until 5 am on Monday (7).
The plan focuses on two dates: October 6, for the 1st round, and October 27, for the 2nd round, where necessary.
“The ONS will issue a report with the results of the SIN Operation, containing a summary of the technical information on the performance of the Operation Network of the electrical system, highlighting the relevant facts during the voting days in the first and second rounds”, stated the ONS.
