O ONS (National Electrical System Operator) presented, during the August ordinary meeting of the CMSE (Electricity Sector Monitoring Committee), the results of electroenergetic operation referring to the month of July this year and a forecast for January 2025.
According to the Agency, indicators indicate that a trend there must be a reduction in reservoir levels of the subsystems of the regions Southeast/Central-West, Northeast and North until the end of December.
For this reason, the Operator presented to CMSE some additional measures for operation during the dry period, in October and November, mainly at the peak of load.
One of them is to minimize the dispatch of hydroelectric plants in the North subsystem, to preserve the region's water resources, with the aim of meeting times of greatest load demand during the dry season.
One of the second measure recommended was expansion of power availability at the end of the dry period, which considers the postponement of maintenance, when possible, and the anticipation of the return of unavailable assets.
O ONS also presented scenarios for the beginning of the year, pointing out that the projection of natural energy flowing into the SIN (National Interconnected System) should vary between 68% and 69,6% at the end of January 2025.
Drop in reservoir levels
as already reported by Canal Solar, the ONS predicts that reservoirs of hydroelectric plants in all subsystems Brazilians must present significant reductions in your capabilities at the end of August.
In the subsystem Southeast/Midwest, the level of the reservoirs should reach 55,2% on August 31, a drop of 8 pp compared to that recorded at the end of July.
In the region Sul e North East, a is in storage capacity should be almost 10 pp and 7 pp, respectively. Already the North should remain stable over the period.
