In a bulletin released this Friday (06), the ONS (National Electric System Operator) reported that raised the load forecast estimate for the month of September. Last week, the Agency expected growth of 0,3% e now predicts a 1,5% increase on an annual basis.

O ONS also estimated that the level of hydroelectric reservoirs Southeast/Central-West, main subsystem for energy storage, will be at 47,4% at the end of September, a rate slightly below the 48% predicted a week ago.

For the rains that are expected to reach hydroelectric plants this month, the agency revised down its projection for the region's plants Sul (36% of the historical average, compared to 42% estimated a week ago), while raising expectations for the North (49%, up from 47%) and made smaller adjustments to the Southeast/Midwest (49%, compared to 50%) and Northeast (43%, compared to 44%).

This week, the Federal Government approved at CMSE (Electric Sector Monitoring Committee) new preventive measures to tackle drought in the country and preserve the level of the reservoirs. Among the actions are the activation of more thermoelectric plants.

Because of this, the amount paid by consumers on their electricity bills increased this month, with the activation of the red tariff flag first at level 2, but, days later, was reviewed and announced at level 1, where R$4,46 will be charged for every 100 kWh consumed.
