The ONS (National Electric System Operator) recorded the fifth record-breaking instantaneous load demand in the SIN (National Interconnected System) in 2025, the fourth of which was in February alone.
The new mark of 105.475 MW was ed this Monday (24), at 14:49 pm. The rprevious record had been ed on February 24, when instantaneous consumption reached 104.732 MW.
Before that, the biggest milestones of the year occurred in February 12, February 11 e January 22,. From the first record recorded in the year to now, the load increased by 2.665 MW at peak demand.
According to the ONS, the weather conditions and high temperatures recorded in different regions of the country have been the main factors that have driven the growth in demand in recent weeks, as a result of the increased use of appliances such as air conditioning and fans.
The agency emphasizes that the consecutive records do not cause concern for the sector's operations in relation to possible blackouts.
"The SIN has fully met the growing demand for load that has been recorded over the last few weeks, which demonstrates that the Brazilian electrical system is robust and operates safely,” he informs.
