The ONS (National Electric System Operator) identified, this Wednesday (21), three new records in photovoltaic solar generation in Brazil, two of which were in without (National Interconnected System) and one in the Southeast/Central-West subsystem.

According to the general director of ONS, Marcio Rea, at SIN, the unprecedented mark ed was 12.576 MWmed of daily solar source production, suring by 5,3% the 11.899 MWmed of the last record identified on October 7, 2024.

In addition, instantaneous solar power generation reached 36.364 MW at 11:53 a.m. yesterday, which represents enough energy to meet 37,4% of the SIN's demand at that time. The previous record was 36.283 MW, recorded on the same day as the maximum photovoltaic generation.

Also on Tuesday, an unprecedented percentage of daily solar production of 6.621 MWmed was identified, representing 13% of the demand in the Southeast/Central-West subsystem region. The previous record was 6.511 MWmed, on December 9, 2024.

About ONS

The ONS is the body responsible for coordinating and controlling the operation of electricity generation and transmission facilities in the SIN, in addition to planning the operation of the country's isolated systems.

The Operator even has teams working seven days a week, 24 hours a day, in control rooms located in Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Recife and Florianópolis.
