A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), published the report of the strategic project no. 21/2016 of the PDI (Research, Development and Innovation Program) presenting the results of 20 projects which were completed by March 31st of this year for the insertion of storage and energy systems in the Brazilian electricity sector.

The call # 21 / 2016 aimed to anticipate market movements to avoid the risks of adopting energy storage technologies and systems in Brazil.

The report provides information about the Call, patented products and commercial and regulatory suggestions, followed by a summary of each project, and finally with final considerations.

In total, there were 13 companies: Amazonas Energia; Cemig-D; Cesp/Auren; Copel-D; FL; Enel CE; Energisa MS; Engie; Furnas; Isa CTEEP; Neoenergia PE; Petrobras and RGE involved in 21 projects, across 10 states in Brazil. However, one of them remains late.

The projects used different storage technologies aimed at sustainability and efficiency, testing batteries and hydrogen, carrying out studies on the reuse of batteries, photovoltaic inverters and the creation of a mobile storage system to help in grid emergencies.

The report can be accessed through Library collection ANEEL
