Pernambuco reached the 1 GW mark in capacity distributed generation, becoming the third state in the Northeast to reach this number. The region now s Bahia, with 1,2 GW, and Ceará, with 1,13 GW.
For Carlos Evangelista, president of ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation), this achievement highlights the population's growing interest in self-generation of energy, especially in cities such as Petrolina, Recife and Caruaru, which lead the number of units in the state.
Today, Pernambuco already has DG consumer units in all of its municipalities, reinforcing the growth of this energy model as a viable option.
In the state, residential consumption is the main responsible for DG, representing 58% of the total. Next come commercial establishments with 25%, industries with 9,38% and rural consumption with 6,64%.
In addition to Pernambuco, Bahia and Ceará, 10 more states sured the 1 GW mark of installed capacity, led by São Paulo (4,6 GW), Minas Gerais (4,1 GW), Rio Grande do Sul (3 GW), Paraná (3 GW), Mato Grosso (2 GW), Goiás (1,5 GW), Santa Catarina (1,4 GW), Mato Grosso do Sul (1,3 GW), Rio de Janeiro (1,2 GW) and Pará (1 GW).
