On Wednesday (8), one day after heavy rains hit the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, technicians from Enel-SP continue working to normalize the energy supply to around 52 thousand addresses.

The data is part of the latest bulletin released by the São Paulo concessionaire responsible for the energy supply in the region.

In the same document, the distributor reported that, in total, more than 650 thousand homes were without power in the early afternoon of this Tuesday (7) due to the storm.

At around 14:35 p.m., there were approximately 579,7 thousand addresses without service. At 15:30 p.m., Enel-SP reduced the number of homes that remained without power to 150 thousand and reported instability on its website.

The worst-hit city was São Caetano do Sul, with 41,8 people without access to electricity. At the worst point, 57% of the city's homes were without electricity.

The cities of São Paulo and Santo André also had more than 5% of customers affected: 500 and 18, respectively.

According to Enel-SP, during the rains, winds of up to 80 km/h threw tiles onto two transmission lines. “In addition, other serious incidents were recorded at various points, including the fall of branches, trees and poles, which caused the destruction of entire sections of the power grid,” the company’s statement highlighted.

For this Wednesday (8), the forecast is practically the same, according to the CGE (Climate Emergency Management Center) of the City of São Paulo, with unstable weather possibly lasting until Thursday (9).
