O CMSE (Electricity Sector Monitoring Committee) met, this Wednesday (5), to evaluate the power supply conditions in the Brazilian electrical system.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the lifting the ONS (National Electric System Operator) which showed that the month of March ended with the best storage levels without (National Interconnected System) of the last decade.

Have been checked storages equivalents of 83,1%, 82,9%, 91,4% and 97,7% in S subsystemssoutheast/Central-West, South, Northeast and Northrespectively last month. In all, the average storage at the end of the month was 85,3%.

According to committee representatives, this scenario provided a better use of hydroelectric surpluses, allowing the export of energy to Argentina, with 1.138 average MW, and Uruguay, with 482 average MW, without causing any problems for the country.

The ONS document also reported that the NOAA (North American Ocean and Atmospheric Agency) decreed, in March, the end of the phenomenon La niña and that there is an indication that the phenomenon El Niño establishes itself in the second half of 2023, which normally increases precipitation in the South region.
