A solar energy was responsible for 7,1 million jobs em renewable energy in 2023 is what points to 11th edition of the annual report 'Renewable Energy'The Jobs' produced by IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency), together with the ILO (International Labour Organization).

Directly and indirectly, the renewable energy employed 16,2 million people in 2023. A solar was the champion (7,11 Millions), followed by bioenergy (3,88 million), hydraulic (2,32 million) and wind (1,46 million), respectively.

O lifting also presents the ten countries that more jobs were generated in the area of solar energy: China, India, United States, Brazil, , Japan, Poland, Vietnam, Italy and Australia.

Em 2023, global capacity solar energy has had a historic expansion, reaching 347GW, 74% more than the previous record set in 2022. A China alone had participation 216,9 GW. O remaining of the largest producers, added a combined total of 83,4 GW. 

“The story of energy transition and its socioeconomic gains should not be about one or two regions. If we all want to fulfill our collective promise de triple the ability to renewable energy by 2030, the world must step up its game and marginalized regions in addressing the barriers that impede the progress of their transitions,” comments sco La Camera, IRENA Director-General.

Job market

O report pointed out that there is a lack of qualified workers in some areas of the renewable energy chain, which may interfere with the speed at which the energy transition takes place.

“A lack of anticipation and monitoring systems of skills makes it even more difficult to capacity of the countries to identify skills gaps, analyze future training needs and adapt education and training programs according to market demands,” the report states.
