Designed to keep beaches clean, restore coastlines while preserving the natural environment, BeBot is an eco-friendly beach cleaning robot that mechanically sifts through sand to remove plastic waste and other debris without harming the local environment.

The collection robot was developed by a marine technology company called Polaru Marine, in partnership with 4Ocean, a nonprofit that organizes cleanups at dozens of U.S. beaches. “BeBot is a new clean ocean technology designed specifically to address these issues and can replace or work alongside existing cleanup efforts,” the nonprofit explains.

In addition to being 100% electric, the robot runs on a mix of solar and battery power, without emitting harmful gases or liquids, smelly diesel fumes or noise pollution. BeBot is capable of collecting trash up to thirty times faster than a person, cleaning up to 3 square meters of beach per hour, the equivalent of a group of 20 people working non-stop for 60 minutes.
