Senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG) presented the 3.784 / 23 Bill to oblige manufacturers, importers, distributors and traders of photovoltaic s to structure and implement a reverse logistics chain.

The senator explained, in a speech at the Senate Plenary last Tuesday (15), that the proposal, in addition to encouraging a renewable energy source, also deals with sustainable solutions to deal with the waste produced by these new technologies.

The idea is to include a new section in Law 12.305/2010, which established the National Solid Waste Policy.

“It is a detail, a very specific modification, but it will bring certainty that such s, whose number will increase exponentially in our country, can have an environmentally correct destination. That can comply with the legal determination that is also intended for other types of similar solid waste. I think the issue is uncontroversial. It is a detailed matter of legislative improvement, in favor of the environment, of environmentally sustainable development”, he argued.

Although Law 12.305 already provides for reverse logistics, the senator noted that there is an ambiguity that creates legal uncertainty regarding the obligation to include photovoltaic solar s in this process.
