Taubaté Shopping, located in the interior of São Paulo, has undergone a major modernization of its air conditioning system. The project, carried out by GreenYellow, has brought greater thermal comfort to visitors, in addition to significantly reducing the operational costs of the enterprise.
The initiative involves replacing the old air conditioning system with more modern and efficient equipment, such as electric chillers, pumps and fan coils.
With this change, the mall eliminated spending on water and chemicals for cooling towers, reduced maintenance costs and ended the natural gas supply contract, which previously represented 40% of the air conditioning system's expenses.
GreenYellow invests R$14,5 million in energy efficiency contracts with retail chains
Another improvement was the centralization of the entire air conditioning system in a single location, allowing the deactivation of the old central unit and freeing up a space of 172 square meters for future rentals.
In total, the savings generated by these changes reached 33% in the costs of the air conditioning unit.
sustainability and innovation
The new system reinforces Taubaté Shopping’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. Ana Cristina Ribeiro, the mall’s general manager, commented on the benefits of the new system for the customer experience.
"The modernization of our air conditioning system has brought, among other significant operational benefits, thermal comfort and, at the same time, reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation,” he says.
The project was developed in partnership with the company Enerlab, specialized in engineering and technology for energy efficiency and sustainable water use.
GreenYellow and the shopping center sector
Marcelo Xavier, president of GreenYellow, highlights that the shopping center sector has become a strategic segment for the company.
"Shopping malls have become a very important segment for GreenYellow, both in of energy efficiency projects and photovoltaic energy generation,” he said.
“This agreement aims to strengthen the company’s presence in this market segment, which offers enormous potential for new business,” concluded Xavier.
Present in Brazil since 2014, GreenYellow has already implemented more than a thousand energy efficiency projects and has more than 280 MWp in photovoltaic projects distributed across more than 80 plants throughout the country.
