The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) and the ONS (National Electric System Operator) announced on Tuesday afternoon (18) that photovoltaic solar energy broke a new generation record in the SIN (National Interconnected System).
Last Friday (14), at around 11 am, the source reached 37.869 MW, which represented 39% of the system's total demand at that time.
The previous record had been ed on February 26 of this year, also around 11 am, when 37.228 MW were reached, corresponding to 36% of the SIN load.
According to the MME, the new brand reflects the rapid expansion of solar energy in Brazil, driven by investments both in centralized generation (large plants) as in distributed generation (own energy generation through the installation of systems on roofs, facades and small plots of land).
“Solar energy generation continues to break records, which demonstrates the growing strength of this source in our electricity matrix. This advance has proven to be increasingly strategic, playing a fundamental role in the national energy supply,” stated the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira.
The following data show the peak of photovoltaic solar generation, on an hourly basis, in the subsystems where this source has the greatest presence, according to information released by the ONS:
- Southeast/Midwest: recorded 19.521 MW on March 10, at 11 am;
- Northeast: recorded 12.467 MW on March 13, at 11 am;
- North: recorded 2.057 MW on March 15, at 11 am.
