O County de Hortolândia (SP), located in the interior of São Paulo, launched, through the Secretariat of Urban Planning and Strategic Management last year, the installation a solar power plant No. new palace Municipal, that has received um investment de R $ million 7,1.

The new Municipal Palace has already completed 80% of the works, and will gain a sensory garden with a rainwater reuse system and a solar plant that will supply 100% of the building.

“The plant, made up of 1.800 solar s, has already generated more than 123 W of energy, an amount sufficient to run all the machinery used in the construction work of the new Municipal Palace”, stated the city hall of Hortolândia.

The construction of the solar plant is financed through the CIP (Public Lighting Contribution), and the plant will provide a reduction in the energy bill, generating savings for the municipality.

The city will also have another 20 solar energy generation units from the Energy Efficiency program, launched together with the new Municipal Palace last year, and together they will save more than R$4 million per year.

The projects are being installed in schools in the municipal education network, UBSs (Basic Health Units), gyms, among other public buildings.

The energy generated by the plants will be equivalent to 80% of the consumption of the 199 public buildings in Hortolândia. With this, the excess energy produced will be transmitted to the FL (Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz) electrical network for future compensation.

At the event held in December last year, Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy, highlighted that the actions implemented by Hortolândia in the energy sector are a model to be followed nationally.

“Hortolândia demonstrates to Brazil the importance of good policies, especially in the energy sector. It is a leading role that we are sure will become a model for the whole of Brazil,” she said.

“Today, Hortolândia, without a doubt, demonstrates that municipalities are great partners of the Federal Government so that we can more quickly implement the energy transition in people’s lives”, highlighted Silveira.
