The board of Sudene (Northeast Development Superintendence), approved this Monday (15), the release of R $ million 92,8 in four installments of financing from the FDNE (Northeast Development Fund) for renewable energy projects in the states of Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte.

In 2023 alone, R$1,1 billion were allocated to wind and solar energy production projects. Danilo Cabral, superintendent of Sudene, highlighted the role of FDNE in the energy transition. “The Northeast is responsible for more than 80% of the country's renewable energy production and most of the parks installed here rely on resources from Sudene instruments, such as FDNE”, highlighted Cabral.

The resources were allocated to the units Eólica Canudos II SPE SA e Canudos III wind farm, in Canudos (BA);  Ventos de Santa Tereza 01 Energia Renováveis SA, in Pedro Avelino (RN) and Sol Serra do Mel V SPE SA, in Serra do Mel (RN).

According to Wandenberg Almeida, general coordinator of Development and Financing Funds, “the energy sector demands a lot of investment and, at this time of transition, there is a strong demand in the market for financing alternatives”.

“It is a dynamic sector that has the potential to generate development if we know how to take advantage of the opportunities that arise in this new scenario, especially for the population”, added Almeida.
