O electricity transmission auction held this Friday (30) at B3, in São Paulo, ended with all lots auctioned, making around R$15,7 billion in investments over the next 5 years, being estimates of the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
The revenue to be received by the winners totaled R$1,25 billion, discount of 51% compared to the initial value, resulting in savings for consumers of R$39,2 billion over the 30 years of the concession.
The consortiums Gênesis, Engie Brasil Transmissão and the companies CTEEP, Furnas, Cymi Construções e Participações, Rialma istração e Participações and Celeo Redes Brasil were the winners.
According to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, the result of the auction is a demonstration of investors' confidence in Brazil. “Brazil is fertile soil for investments. We are aware of the importance of regulatory strengthening, respect for contracts, legal certainty and predictability for investors.”
The first transmission auction of the year provides for the construction and maintenance of 6.184 kilometers of transmission lines and 400 MVA in substation transformation capacity. The projects must come into operation within 36 to 66 months. The expectation is that 60 thousand jobs will be created during the works.
Engie took lot 5 and will add revenue of R$249,3 million annually. CTEEP got lots 9 and 7, totaling revenue of R$226,3 million. The Gênesis Consortium won lots 8 and 1, totaling revenue of R$193,6 million.
Furnas will add R$68,7 million annually with lot 4. Cymi Construções e Participações will have R$70,88 million more with lot 3. Celeo Redes Brasil won lot 6, with revenue of R$99,87 million . Rialma istração e Participações took lot 2 and guaranteed revenue of R$347,8 million.

“Every real invested in the transmission system will unlock 3 to 5 reals in new investments in energy generation, boosting our matrix for the energy transition. We are talking about new R$200 billion in investments. It is the generation of clean and renewable energy being transmitted from our Northeast and the North of Minas Gerais to the whole of Brazil”, said the minister.

Can we already thank GD for reducing transmission costs or is it still too early?
