Transmission auction schedule until 2026 is defined

Four more competitions are planned, which will be held in March and September 2025 and 2026

O MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) published, this Tuesday (09), the Ordinance No. 73/MME/GM, which establishes the new schedule for the realization of Auctions de Transmission of electrical energy in the years 2024, 2025 e 2026.

For 2025 and 2026, four more auctions, to be held in March and September of each year. The ordinance also indicates the deadlines, in each event, for the signature of the Transmission Systems Use Contracts (CUST) by distributors, with a requirement for bidding on frontier power transformers.

The MME and the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) have already carried out three auctions transmission with major infrastructure works – two in the year of 2023 e um em 2024 – adding investments of around $ 56 billion in the Brazilian transmission sector.

For the minister Alexandre Silveira, the new schedule ensures a predictability in carrying out bids for the Public Service Concession for Electric Energy Transmission, a relevant component for maintaining the attractiveness of the competitions.

Next auction

O Auction nº 02/2024, scheduled for September 27th this year, is scheduled for receive investments in the amount of $ 4,1 billion, covering the states of Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and Bahia.

This competition will include the construction de 848 km de new lines de transmission, in addition to an increase of 1.750 MVA in transformation capacity, with the potential to generate 10,8 thousand new jobs.

A highlight of this auction is the inclusion de premises belonging à concession em end de validity, located in the states of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais and necessary to continue providing the service.
