“An important trend we have observed is the increasing adoption of solar energy systems integrated with energy storage, such as batteries. We also see many innovations in the electric mobility segment.”

The analysis is Nuno Verças, CEO of the Descarbonize Soluções Group. In an exclusive interview with Canal Solar, the executive stated that, for the storage market to grow increasingly, it is necessary develop a more robust and efficient energy infrastructure, capable of meeting a wide range of audiences and needs.

“At the same time, we understand that it is greater stability is needed in the Brazilian regulatory environment, fundamental to overcoming the challenges and taking advantage of the full potential of photovoltaic energy as a sustainable and increasingly democratic source”, he highlighted.

During the interview, Verças also spoke about How Descarbonize positions itself in the sector, which solar fountain benefits and what is potential of this technology in the Brazilian market, in addition to making predictions for the year 2024.

How does Descarbonize Soluções position itself in the sector and how can the company contribute to further leveraging and democratizing solar energy?

Descarbonize Soluções positions itself as the only company that has in-house all the pillars of solutions that guarantee trust and long term in this sector. Our distribution arm (Aldo Solar) has more than 40 years of history and is the largest distributor of photovoltaic solutions in Brazil.

We are recognized for working only with the best brands and products, without exception, serving projects of all sizes. We have a financing operation, Sol Agora, which provides the financing option to its customers from financial institutions.

We have a Technical Assistance operation (LADO) that guarantees our customers the security that, if and when they need it, they will have a partner available in the coming decades (something that is clearly a challenge and a concern in the sector) and we have one of the largest foreign investors who have been investing in the long term in various sectors and in the country for more than a century (Brookfield).

This guarantees us to have a unique capacity in the photovoltaic and energy solutions sector, offering confidence and security to our customers and providing the investment capacity for constant improvements in the customer experience, which contributed to the development of the segment with what is most modern, innovative and safe on the market.

What are the benefits and democratic aspects of solar energy?

Solar offers a significant range of benefits for both the environment and the economy and society in general. Furthermore, it is decentralized and can be generated on different scales, which promotes energy independence, especially in remote or difficult-to-access areas. In Brazil, it is becoming increasingly accessible.

As an example, Law 14.620 stands out, which deals with the Minha Casa Minha Vida program, where the installations of photovoltaic systems in financed homes were integrated into housing financing. Therefore, photovoltaic technology plays an important role when we talk about democratizing access to energy.

We are ensuring that low-income people have access to a clean, low-cost source of energy. This not only reduces socioeconomic inequalities, but also empowers communities.

How do you see the Brazilian market in this sector? What potential does the country have?

I view the current Brazilian solar energy market with optimism. The country has enormous potential, in addition to a growing demand for energy. In this context, solar stands out as a viable and economical solution to meet this demand, both for large distributed generation projects and in residential systems.

Recently, the ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) released a projection of an increase of 9,3 GW in installed capacity in 2024, raising the accumulated power to 45,6 GW by the end of the year.

What are your predictions for this year?

My predictions for this year are very optimistic. I expect the solar market to continue growing rapidly, driven by growing demand and technological advances.

Falling equipment costs and growing awareness about the environmental impacts of conventional energy also help the sector's development.
