O Ullevaal, national football stadium in Norway, now operates on solar energy. Altogether, they are 1.242 bifacial photovoltaic s of 200 Wp each, power of 248,4 kWp and capacity to generate around 219 MWh annually.
According to Over Easy Solar, the company responsible for the project, the s were installed in a vertical position to make better use of the incidence of solar rays.
The company says the yield can be 20% to 30% higher than conventionally installed roofs.
Other advantages of vertical positioning are that s are installed in the south-north direction (20 degrees east of south). This angle provides greater energy production in winter and is easier to carry out maintenance and repairs.
According to the company, in addition to better use of solar rays, each weighs around 11 kg, this was one of the characteristics responsible for the quick installation of the stadium's roof, as it is not only lighter but also smaller than traditional s.
