The State University of Goiás (UEG), located in Anápolis, inaugurated, this Wednesday (9), a photovoltaic plant with 11.760 modules in an area of 100.000 m².
The event, which started at 9 am, was attended by authorities such as Fernando Navarrete, president of CelgPAR, and Antonio Cruvinel Borges Neto, rector of the university.
The project – financed by CelgPAR, which is a mixed economy company with authorized capital whose majority shareholder is the State of Goiás – prioritizes reducing electricity costs.
The project is already in operation, with a generation capacity of 12.633 MWh/year, which projects savings of 64,5% on the university campus's electricity bills and also on the State Department of Education.

The energy impact of the plant is enough to supply more than three thousand medium-sized homes, in addition to providing environmental benefits such as the planting of more than seven thousand trees or the removal of 370 vehicles from the streets.
“Here, we will have a living laboratory for studies and practices in renewable energy, further expanding UEG’s role as a protagonist in innovation and sustainability,” said the rector.
He also highlighted that the initiative reflects the fundamental principles of the public university: commitment to sustainable development, the application of science to improve the quality of life and citizenship of students.
The investment in the project, worth over R$30 million, was celebrated by the president of CelgPAR. “Since the beginning of his istration, Governor Ronaldo Caiado has given firm to solar energy initiatives, recognizing the great potential of Goiás in this field.”
“This inauguration is an important milestone in a larger project that focuses on energy efficiency in state istration bodies, and will generate significant savings for UEG and the Department of Education,” he concluded.
