University of MT will save R$2 million per year with solar

Amount saved can be used for activities at the institution itself

A UFMT (Federal University of Mato Grosso) announced the implementation of solar energy plants PV on the campuses of Cuiabá, Barra do Garças, Pontal do Araguaia and Sinop. The total investment is R$10 million.

According to Proadi (Dean of istration and Infrastructure), the expectation of savings is R$2 million per year, and can be used for other actions at the university itself.

A 1.740 kWp plant will be installed on the Cuiabá campus, of which 58% of the project is already installed in the buildings of the Multi- Didactic Block 1 to 4, at the FACC (Didactic School of the Faculty of istration and ing Sciences), in IL (Institute of Languages) and at FCA (Faculty of Communication and Arts).

In addition to these, photovoltaic systems are being installed at the multi-sports courts, at the IC (Institute of Computing) and at the COT (Olympic Training Center). According to planning, the projects should be completed by the end of this year.

According to the rectory, the two facilities in Cuiabá were acquired through public notices Energisa, such as the installation of block C, of ​​FAET (Faculty of Architecture, Engineering and Technologies), as well as the Student House, located in Jardim Itália.

420 KWp have already been installed on the Araguaia campus, with only final approval remaining at the concessionaire in buildings at the Barra do Garças and Pontal do Araguaia units. For the Sinop campus, the 510 KWp plant is scheduled to start this February.

“The UFMT technical teams, with the of the Rectory, worked with the aim of enabling investments in actions that would reduce bills in the medium and long term. The investment in solar energy was the flagship and, once the installations are completed, we will reap the rewards for more than 20 years”, highlights the pro-rector of Proadi.
