Valmont, a manufacturer of irrigation equipment, announced this Wednesday (3) the purchase of shares in the company Solbras – Energia Solar do Brasil. With the acquisition, the multinational will become a majority shareholder in the business.

Solbras, which has a prominent presence in the solar energy market, has headquarters in São João da Boa Vista (SP) and Goiânia (GO) and operates throughout Brazil. The company works in the preparation, processing, approval and installation of detailed technical projects and in providing assistance with obtaining credit for the construction of PV plants.

João Rebequi, vice-president of Valmont, responsible for Latin America, highlights that the purchase of Solbras shares aims at the company's international expansion and the promotion of clean and sustainable energy. “Solar energy is already a strategic reality, being fundamental in projects that seek efficiency and sustainability. Solbras is a Brazilian company with a strong presence in the local market. We want to take this expertise to other countries in Latin America and, of course, in the medium term, promote the technology globally”, highlighted Rebequi.

Furthermore, Valmont's CEO, Renato Silva, states that photovoltaic energy brings several benefits to the automation of irrigation systems, in addition to playing an important role in reducing environmental impact. “Producers intensify the quality of their production, saving electricity and reducing water use. The economic, effective and sustainable potential is great. Valmont was already encouraging its use, through its partnership with Solbras, and is now delivering the technology directly to the irrigator,” he commented.

Founded in 2013, Solbras has more than 400 plants installed or in the process of being commissioned in Brazil. For Geraldo Afonso Dezena da Silva, CEO of Solbras, the operation marks a new and important phase in the history of the company and photovoltaic energy in the world. “Under Valmont’s command and the strength it has globally, we will be able to boost the market and value the importance of solar energy for agribusiness and all sectors of the economy. Solbras undoubtedly assumes an important and decisive market maturity for the advancement of technology”, he declared.

For Jonas Proença, director of network development and marketing at Valmont in Brazil, the transaction will allow the company to invest in solutions for the Brazilian and international photovoltaic market. “This investment allows Valmont to expand its portfolio, delivering, through its sales network spread across the country, a complete package of solutions: our modern central pivot technology going hand in hand with the sustainability offered by solar energy”, he highlighted. .
