When it comes to growth in electricity generation in Brazil, July was the month for renewables according to data monitored by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
According to the Agency, of the 525,5 MW added to the country's installed capacity last month, 421,2 MW came from 18 new wind farms and 93,6 MW from two photovoltaic plants. During the period, two thermoelectric plants (10,0 MW) and two small hydroelectric plants (0,7 MW) were added.
For the general director of ANEEL, Sandoval Feitosa, the expansion of the Brazilian electricity matrix in July reflects the good moment of energy generation in the country, especially that resulting from renewable sources.
“The July result continues the accelerated expansion that we are seeing in 2023. We are on a good path towards the 10,3 GW predicted by the Agency's inspection team for this year”, assessed the general director.
Capacity installed
Brazil totaled 194.387,49 MW of inspected power, according to data from SIGA (Generation Information System). ANEEL), updated daily with data on plants in operation and projects granted under construction. Of this total in operation, according to SIGA, 83,69% of the plants are considered renewable.
A ANEEL updates the country's generation data daily through SIGA, which presents data on plants in operation and projects granted under construction.
Other information about monitoring the expansion of generation supply is available on interactive s. Click here to access. The s, updated monthly, show the forecast for the entry of new generating units in the coming years.
Furthermore, they provide a history of the expansion of the generation since the creation of ANEEL (1997). In addition to the s, a database with forecast and monitoring information on the works of projects granted for construction is also available.
