Yellow flag remains in April, says ANEEL

According to the Agency, the measure was taken because the volume of rain was below expectations in March

A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) announced, last Friday (26), that the yellow tariff flag will be maintained for the month of April, with a cost of R$ 1,343 for every 100 kWh consumed.

According to the Agency, this measure was taken because in March there were records of precipitation in the main basins of the SIN (National Interconnected System) with final volumes below expectations.

Furthermore, he explained that the SIN's main hydroelectric reservoirs have relatively low stocks for this time of year, due to the volume of rainfall below the historical standard recorded throughout the entire wet season.

As April is a transition month between the wet and dry periods in these regions, rainfall is not expected to alter the downward trend in inflows from then on, said the ANEEL in note.

“This situation signals an unfavorable level of production by hydroelectric plants, putting pressure on costs related to the GSF (hydrological risk) and the PLD (Difference Settlement Price)”, added the agency.
